Drawing inspiration from leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi, this 8-week class explores how mindfulness can transform stress into resilience, fear into courage, and compassion into effective advocacy.
Whether you’re working for change in your neighborhood or beyond, this class will offer practical tools to help you
Our nation was founded on the principle that we can govern ourselves because we can think for ourselves. This was the premise of the Enlightenment era in general, and it’s a core principle of self-governing societies even today.
The challenge we face today is that the human mind struggles to think for itself whenever the situation is chaotic, volatile or complex. Brains do better when the world is predictable. The good news is that there is a solution to this. Regardless of the level of chaos, we do better at thinking for ourselves when we strengthen the cognitive processes that help us make sense of the world. When these processes are strong, we make better choices on our own behalf, and we are better able to come together with a sense of collective agency to create the society we want. Today’s world reaches a level of chaos and complexity that demands a very high level of strength in these processes.
Democracy Mindset runs small-scale, experiential training courses that help people to strengthen their mind’s ability to make sense of chaos so that we can continue to govern ourselves both as individuals and as a society.
